For a moment, it appeared as if Tommy Edman was set to end the no-hit bid Aníbal Sánchez had going for him in the bottom of the eighth inning. Then, Ryan Zimmerman came up with the play of Game 1 in the NLCS.
Edman laced a rocket into the gap between first and second, and it appeared to be a sure extra-base hit. Then, stunning the crowd and the St. Louis Cardinals, Zimmerman laid out for the extraordinary grab.
This tremendous play kept the no-hitter alive for Sánchez. Unfortunately, two batters later, the no-hitter was ended when Jose Martinez laced a single into shallow center field.
