Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic dueled for five hours Sunday during a historic Wimbledon Final that saw Djokovic win his fifth Wimbledon title.
The match was the most compelling back-and-forth drama we’ve seen in any sport in many a year, and it really was a shame one of them had to lose. Afterward, as the men received their trophies, they both showed everyone what outstanding sportsmanship looks like with a couple of the classiest interviews you’ll ever see following such a hard-fought battle.
Federer, who lost, went first. He said “it’s not over yet,” and then proceeded to lavish praise on Djokovic for coming through during the clutch moments.
Afterward, Djokovic praised his longtime rival and said Federer inspires him.
These two legends gave the entire sports world a clinic in pure class — the icing on the cake after such a phenomenal display on Centre Court.
