It’s not often that you see punters making big hits, so when they do it’s noteworthy. Unfortunately for the Oregon Ducks, punter Blake Maimone took things too far in the second quarter against Auburn.
Maimone was pretty much the last line of defense as Christian Tutt took off down the left sideline. The punter did a fantastic job of stopping him in his tracks, but then he body slammed him out of bounds, drawing a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty.
Whoopsies.
This penalty ended up not costing Oregon anything. The Auburn offense got within field goal range just before halftime, but kicker Anders Carlson shanked a 42-yard attempt.
