WATCH: Nick Saban has salty response to question about easy opponents

Nick Saban Alabama

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide hosted New Mexico State Saturday, and it would have taken nothing less than a minor miracle for the Aggies to win.

Heading into the game, Alabama was favored to win by 55.5 points. Ultimately, they failed to reward bettors who took the “over,” winning by “just” 52 points, 62-10.

Afterward during Saban’s post-game press conference, he was asked if he finds value to playing a team like New Mexico State, which really does not provide any real competition for a major program like Alabama.

Saban then launched into a bit of a lengthy, very salty response. Check the following video around the 4:45 mark for his full answer.

Essentially, Saban said that Alabama can only play the teams that will accept taking the Crimson Tide on.

To be fair, Saban has in the past advocated for a highly competitive schedule that features 10 conference games and two others against Power 5 opponents. That’s what he once more hearkened to in this press conference.

We know that things aren’t likely to change on this front any time soon. We also know that Saban is sick and tired about being asked to comment on scheduling issues.
