Washington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer has enjoyed many incredible moments during his MLB career. Hopefully, his achievement on Friday night will soon join the ranks of his biggest highlights during his time in baseball.
In the fifth inning of Friday’s game, Scherzer struck out Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez to end the inning. The strikeout was his eighth of the game and pushed Scherzer past a baseball icon on the all-time strikeout list.
The 2,536th strikeout of Scherzer’s MLB career pushed him past Bartolo Colon on MLB’s all-time list to claim the 32nd spot. What makes it more impressive is that Scherzer accomplished the feat in 204 fewer games and 1,284 fewer innings.
Hopefully, Colon sees this and tries to get his way back to the majors so he can add a few extra strikeouts to his career resume.
