WATCH: Memphis WR Antonio Gibson with play of the year candidate on absurd 78-yard TD run

Memphis Tigers wide receiver Antonio Gibson already showed his explosiveness on a 50-yard reception touchdown and 98-yard kickoff return touchdown earlier in the game. He’s now added a potential play of the year with an unfathomable 78-yard touchdown run.

Gibson took a carry out of the backfield and was immediately met by a defender at the line of scrimmage. After shaking off that defender, another SMU defender ran in and hit him.

The senior refused to go down. He spun out of the second tackle before turning upfield, juking a third defender and outracing the rest of the defense down the sideline for the 78-yard touchdown.

The Mustangs hoped they would have a shot down 15 with under 10 minutes left. Gibson managed to deliver a serious blow to their hopes once again as he cruised to a school-record 386 all-purpose yards.
