A routine fly ball to right-center field turned into a triple for Chicago Cubs DH Jason Kipnis Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds.
Kipnis hit the ball, which then soared toward the outfield and got swallowed up by the sun. Reds center fielder Shogo Akiyama had absolutely no clue where it went, and the ball landed harmlessly on the ground. By the time the ball finally was thrown back into the infield, Kipnis was safely on third base.
Check out the wild scene:
Sun-cinnati indeed.
Worse for the Reds, Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner drove Kipnis in with a hit one batter later to give Chicago a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
