As Jordan Spieth practiced on the putting green at the 2016 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, he was accosted by a young whippersnapper with a thing for big-boy putters. Dustin Johnson’s young son Tatum is the thief in question, and the toddler’s cute pinch was caught on tape by Janet Gretzky, who shared it on her Instagram account.
If you’re going to swipe a shortstick, then targeting the world’s No. 1 golfer is a smart move.
Last year, Spieth was the No. 8-ranked golfer in terms of strokes gained putting, and while his 2016 season has yet to take off in similar fashion to his unbelievably dominant 2015 campaign, he is now No. 1 in this category.
Unfortunately Spieth’s weekend isn’t going according to plan. Through three rounds he was 15 shots behind leader Phil Mickelson (-16), though he has dropped a couple of strokes to get to three-under par in his final round.
On another note, Pebble Beach’s Pro-Am is one of the highlights on the PGA Tour every year. Not only are golf fans treated to some of the most fantastic scenery and talent the world has to offer, but the interactions that occur are priceless, thanks to the relaxed atmosphere of the annual event.
