Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz made his return to Fenway Park Monday ahead of the team’s game against the New York Yankees.
It comes months after Ortiz was shot in his native Dominican Republic, causing what were initially deemed to be serious injuries.
Now almost fully recovered, Ortiz headed back to Boston to throw out the first pitch on Monday. It came amid a standing ovation from those who had cheered Ortiz on during his legendary 14-year career with the Red Sox.
If that doesn’t give you chills, we’re not too sure what to say.
A three-time World Series champ with the Red Sox, Ortiz built a special bond with both the Boston community and baseball fans in the city. He’s loved in Beantown.
We’re happy to see Ortiz in good spirits and looking like his old self following that scary incident this past summer.
