For the first time since 1933, the nation’s capital has a Major League Baseball team on the verge of a World Series appearance.
The Washington Nationals head into Game 3 of the NLCS against the Cardinals up 2-0 after taking each of the first two games in St. Louis. Behind dominating pitching, Washington heads home for what could be a franchise-altering Game 3 at Nationals Park.
To say that D.C. is lit ahead of this game would be an understatement. In fact, this is the deepest a baseball team in the capital has played into October since the then Washington Senators lost to the New York Giants in the 1933 World Series.
The scene was absolutely electric.
We also have to give local legend Dwight Clyde (D.C.) Washington credit for getting the party started the right way.
The Nationals themselves were introduced to “The Avengers” theme music, too.
It really could end up being a block party in the nation’s capital if Washington were to take Game 3 on Monday and close the series out on Tuesday.
