WATCH: Cubs RF Jason Heyward nails runner at home with incredible throw

Spring training

Combining the throw and tag, it will be awfully hard to top the play executed by Chicago Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward and catcher Willson Contreras.

With runners on the corners, Los Angeles Dodgers’ third baseman Justin Turner hit a fly ball to right field. While it wasn’t a terribly deep fly ball, it appeared deep enough to score the speedy Chris Taylor from third. But Heyward and Contreras weren’t about to let that happen.

Contreras was shaken up on the play, but remained in the game.

Everything about this play was just perfect. Not only was Heyward’s throw strong enough to nail a fast runner, but it was right on target. Despite that, making the tag wasn’t easy. Contreras obviously had to deal with a good amount of contact. It would have been easy to drop the ball. But obviously, that didn’t happen.
