Boston Red Sox ace Chris Sale took umbrage with home plate umpire Brian Knight on Wednesday in the seventh inning and was ejected for his tirade.
Sale had walked two straight batters — Mark Trumbo and Craig Gentry — and was very upset about some of the pitches that Knight ruled were balls.

Knight then tossed Sale, who really went after him following his trip to the dugout.
Chris Sale has been ejected from the game even though he’s been pulled. He yelled at the umpire all the way off the field and to the runway.

This was only the second career ejection for Sale, who left the game having kept the Baltimore Orioles from scoring a single run as the Red Sox led 5-0.
It’s worth noting that recently activated Mookie Betts got all scoring going with his first home run since returning from the DL.
