The beginning of Sunday’s season opener against the Washington Redskins has been up and down for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. Early in the first quarter, the Philadelphia quarterback pulled off a gorgeous touchdown pass. Later in the quarter, he pulled off a play that wasn’t so pretty.

These are always strange plays. While there’s some benefit that comes from giving your receiver some extra room, throwing the ball backwards brings in a fairly sizable risk too. If anything goes wrong, it’s a live ball and most of your team is downfield with its back turned.
They certainly learned that lesson the hard way on Sunday.
