Tulsa needs to mind all its Ps and Qs against Michigan State Friday night, but early on that strategy was thrown out the window as Brian Lewerke was blasted by a late hit out of bounds.
Tulsa’s Brandon Johnson, who was also hit with a defensive holding penalty on this same play, came over late and decked the Spartans star on the sideline.
Not surprisingly, Johnson was flagged on the play, giving Michigan State outstanding field position in enemy territory. A handful of plays later, the Spartans scored a touchdown to go up early.
