Turnovers have been an issue for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo during the early stages of his career with the team.
That came back to haunt the high-priced quarterback in San Francisco’s season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Up 3-0 in the second quarter and facing second and long, Garoppolo was picked off by Bucs cornerback Vernon Hargreaves, who returned it 15 yards for a touchdown.
There’s no excuse for that. What a horrible decision from Garoppolo to throw late to the outside.
That’s a rookie mistake from the fifth-year quarterback. It’s unacceptable.
