Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant went down with a seemingly serious lower-body injury late in the third quarter Wednesday night against the Houston Rockets.
Most who were watching the game feared that Durant had suffered the same fate as teammate DeMarcus Cousins — a torn Achilles.
As Oracle went quiet in Oakland, reports came in that Durant suffered a right calf strain. Even then, there was concern that the preliminary diagnosis was wrong.
After Golden State pulled off a thrilling win for a 3-2 series advantage, head coach Steve Kerr indicated that they have ruled out an Achilles injury to Durant.
We’re pretty sure that further tests will be conducted to find out the real extent of the injury. But this has to be seen as good news for both Durant and the Warriors.
Whether the reigning two-time NBA Finals MVP can suit up Game 6 in Houston Friday night remains to be seen. We’ll find out more about that later.
