Von Miller is never shy about talking up his alma mater, Texas A&M, or the players the school produces. But in the case of Myles Garrett, he’s not spewing hyperbole.
#Broncos pass-rusher Von Miller, on #TAMU’s Myles Garrett: “He should be the number one pick. He is gonna be the number one pick.”

The Denver Broncos pass rusher knows a thing or two about being a highly valued pass rusher coming out of college. He was drafted No. 2 overall in 2011, the same year Cam Newton was the first overall player selected.
There is no Newton in this year’s draft, however. And the team picking at the top — barring any trade, of course — would be wise to avoid falling into the trap of reaching for a quarterback at No. 1 overall. This doesn’t appear to be a problem for the Cleveland Browns, however. They also own the No. 12 overall pick and should be able to land a passer there unless they just don’t like this year’s crop of quarterbacks.
And if that’s the case, then perhaps they really wouldn’t object to letting Cody Kessler start in 2017, as has been reported.
Garrett not only put up tremendous stats during his three years playing for the Aggies, but he has also produced inconceivable measurables. Both at the combine in February and then again at his pro day, the pass rusher had scouts literally drooling over what he can do.
Unless the Browns can lure some quarterback desperate team to trade its future for the No. 1 overall pick, Cleveland will select Garrett at the top of the 2017 NFL Draft.
