The Minnesota Vikings will start rookie quarterback Jaren Hall in Sunday night’s must-win game against the visiting Green Bay Packers.
Coach Kevin O’Connell announced Thursday that Hall will make his second start of the season and Nick Mullens will head back to the bench after two straight losses.
The Vikings (7-8) are one game behind the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks in the fight for the final NFC wild-card spots. The Packers, Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints are also 7-8.
Hall, a fifth-round choice in the 2023 NFL Draft, sustained a concussion in the first quarter in his first career start on Nov. 5 at Atlanta.
Hall, 25, has completed 8 of 10 passes for 101 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions in two games.
Mullens, 28, has completed 69.5 percent of his passes for 797 yards with four TDs and six picks in three games.
The Vikings lost starting quarterback Kirk Cousins to a torn Achilles tendon during their Oct. 29 win at Green Bay.
