If Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had to hand out credit to those who helped him turn into one of the game’s best, Tom Clements would be near the top of the list.
Clements joined the Packers one year before Rodgers. His role was as the team’s quarterbacks coach. So when Rodgers was drafted in 2006, Clements was there to help him navigate his way from college to professional quarterback.
For the first time in his Hall of Fame-worthy career, Rodgers will not have Clements to rely on next season. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy announced his assistant head coach is stepping away from the team. The announcement came on Thursday.
McCarthy: Tom Clements is going to move on to other interests. Like to take a moment to thank Tom for an incredible 11 years here.

Clemens has been serving as the Packers’ assistant head coach for the past two seasons. Prior to that, he received a promotion from his initial role as quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator.
A quarterbacks coach in three different stops prior to coordinating the Buffalo Bills offense in 2004-05, Clements is among the most-respected coaches in the entire NFL. His loss will surely be felt by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
