Kobe Bryant’s widow, Vanessa, has in large part been a private person behind the scenes. The mother of four lost her rock of two decades and her teenage daughter in Sunday’s helicopter accident in Southern California.
It goes without saying that the sports world and broader United States has been thinking a lot about Vanessa. We can scarcely imagine what she’s going through on the heels of that unthinkable tragedy.
Mrs. Bryant has now decided to make her personal Instagram account public. In doing so, she just posted a heartbreaking photo of Kobe and Gianna, the latter of whom passed away at the age of 13 in Saturday’s accident.
The photo is from Bryant’s final All-Star Game appearance in Toronto and shows Kobe embracing his wonderful daughter.
It’s a great photo. It’s a photo that reminds us that Kobe was in fact a girl dad.
Our thoughts continue to go out to the entire Bryant family, Vanessa and her three surviving daughters. We can’t imagine what she’s going through right now.
If nothing else, maybe we can help lift her up with whatever she needs during these most difficult of times.
