The New York Yankees traded for Giancarlo Stanton with the hope he would come through in clutch moments. Instead, Stanton never swung his bat in his final at-bat of Game 1 of the ALDS against the Boston Red Sox.
After Aaron Judge led off the ninth inning with a solo home run to cut Boston’s lead to a single run, momentum started to swing back in New York’s favor. Brett Gardner struck out, and then Stanton stepped into the plate with a chance to tie the game against Craig Kimbrel.
Instead, Stanton’s bat remained on his shoulders as he struck out looking on three pitches and was disgraced by Kimbrel.

After the ugly at-bat, which resulted in Stanton’s fourth strikeout of the game, Twitter roasted Stanton for his utter failure to even attempt to make something happen in a one-run game.
Stanton looked terrified. What a pathetic AB. Didn't even swing. And a pathetic AB earlier with the bases loaded. Guy needs to get it together. This ain't Miami, pal.

That wasn't the best at-bat of Stanton's career.

What Kimbrel just did to Stanton is the equivalent of pantsing someone without anyone actually removing clothes
