As the Minnesota Twins continue to try and end a skid that has seen them fall to second place in the AL Central, the club will welcome back one of its best starters on Thursday in hopes of snapping the slump.
Starting pitcher Michael Pineda will be activated off the 10-day injured list before Thursday’s game and return to the mound for the first time since he landed on the IL with a right triceps strain.
The 30-year-old was in the midst of a great stretch on the mound before the injury setback. Pineda holds a 2.95 ERA with a 53/12 K/BB ratio over his last 10 starts.
Pineda has made a tremendous recovery since he underwent Tommy John surgery in July 2017. He’ll be a free agent at the end of the season and should draw significant interest this offseason.
