Minnesota Twins catcher Sandy Leon was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday and will have meniscus surgery on his right knee.

The team reinstated fellow backstop Ryan Jeffers from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move ahead of its series opener against the visiting Chicago White Sox.

Leon, 33, played in 25 games for the Twins after being acquired in an Aug. 2 trade with the Cleveland Guardians.

He batted .179 with four RBIs for Minnesota and is a career .210 hitter with 31 homers and 145 RBIs in 533 games with five teams.

Jeffers, 25, missed the Twins’ past 62 games after surgery on his right thumb. He had three homers and seven RBIs in nine games on a rehab assignment at Triple-A St. Paul.

Before landing on the IL on July 15, Jeffers batted .214 with seven home runs and 25 RBIs in 60 games.
