Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak announced on Monday that Trevor Siemian will be the team’s starting quarterback against the Los Angeles Rams in the third preseason game.

Normally, the third preseason game is an extended dress rehearsal for the starters, who often play into the second half. With a three-way battle going on for the starting quarterback position, that might not happen for the Broncos at this time.
Kubiak also added that Siemian, Mark Sanchez, Paxton Lynch will all play and play around the same amount of time in the game.
Saturday will be Siemian’s second straight preseason start. He also started the Week 2 preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers and threw a terrible pick-six to Eric Reid (watch here).
Mark Sanchez started the preseason opener against the Chicago Bears.
At least in terms of preseason games, neither Lynch, Sanchez, or Siemian has done much to separate himself from the pack.

All three have been uneven, looking good at times and mediocre on other plays.
Normally, the third preseason game is the last time the fans will see much (or any) of the starters until the regular season. In this case, that might be different. If neither Lynch, Sanchez, or Siemian separates himself against Los Angeles, it’s conceivable that this battle could extend to the preseason finale against the Arizona Cardinals.
According to Kubiak, this battle is keeping to script. The coach expected the battle to go deep into the preseason.
