Amid rumblings that Tom Brady could potentially be mulling over retirement comes a report that seems to fly in the face of all that noise.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reported Wednesday that Brady already has a summer camp set up with his New England Patriots teammates.
Those aren’t the actions of a man who has one foot out the door. Far from it. And really, this shouldn’t surprise anyone. Despite all the speculation about whether Brady is growing weary of the grind and/or perhaps Bill Belichick, this is a man who has stated many times he wants to play into his mid-40s.
Could he possibly change his mind? Sure. But there’s been no real indication that Brady has seriously considered hanging up the cleats, outside of the rampant reports from unnamed sources. And those reports at this point seem to be like buzzing flies, rather than anything substantial.
This is pure speculation on my part, but in half a year we might all look back on the unrelenting rumors of New England’s demise with nothing more than a belly full of laughs.
