Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren underwent successful surgery to treat a Lisfranc injury in his right foot, the team said Tuesday.
Dr. David Porter performed the procedure in Carmel, Ind., with Thunder medical personnel on hand.
Holmgren, 20, will miss the 2022-23 season due to the injury, which occurred 10 days ago as he defended LeBron James on a fast break during a CrawsOver Pro-Am game in Seattle.
The 7-footer was the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA draft in June. He averaged 14.0 points and 8.4 rebounds in five games for the Thunder at the Las Vegas Summer League.
In his lone season at Gonzaga, Holmgren averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.7 blocks and 1.9 assists. The Bulldogs entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed but lost in a regional semifinal to Arkansas.
