Texans fans already booing Tom Savage

Tom Savage

We definitely don’t blame Houston Texans fans for being in a bad mood right now. The week started with rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson setting NFL record and potentially prepared to lead this team to the playoffs.

Then, when Wednesday came calling, the Texans’ world was turned upside down. Watson suffered a torn ACL in practice, ending his rookie season in the process.

Now, the Texans themselves are forced to turn back to a quarterback in Tom Savage who was benched halfway through Week 1.

And it hasn’t been good. Savage hit on 2-of-8 passes to start the game. And the Texans found themselves down 7-0 at home after Indianapolis Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton hauled in this 45-yard strike from Jacoby Brissett.

Needless to say, fans in Houston are not happy with that they’re seeing early on Sunday. And they let Savage know it.

That’s not good for anyone involved, Savage himself included.

It must also be noted that attendance itself for this game wasn’t anywhere near the level it would have been if Watson were on the field.

Another report noted that tickets were being sold for $20 in the parking lot prior to the game. Scalpers could barely give said tickets away.

It’s a sad day for the Texans. Let’s hope the team can find a way to rally around Savage. As of now, it doesn’t look like that will be the case.
