Tennessee head coach Kellie Harper agreed to a contract extension through 2027-28 on Monday.

Harper, 45, guided the Lady Volunteers to the Sweet 16 for the second straight season in 2022-23.

Tennessee finished 25-12 overall and 13-3 in the Southeastern Conference, bringing Harper’s record to 88-39 through four seasons in Knoxville.

“The Lady Vols have a strong program culture, visible player development, a commitment to excellence and intentional leadership in place, and I look forward to watching our program continue to rise under her leadership,” athletic director Danny White said.

Tennessee lost to No. 1 seed Virginia Tech, 73-64, in the Sweet 16. The Volunteers reached the SEC tournament championship game, falling to No. 1 ranked South Carolina, 74-58.

“I couldn’t be more thankful for the belief and trust Danny and Tennessee have placed in me and my staff to lead the Lady Vol program where we all want to go,” Harper said. “The journey to the top isn’t easy, but I’m really proud of the investment our players have displayed in pursuing our goals and fighting through some adversity along the way.”

Harper is one of two coaches to lead four different women’s programs to the NCAA Tournament. Overall, she is 373-246 with Western Carolina (2004-09), NC State (2009-13), Missouri State (2013-19) and Tennessee.
