Teddy Bridgewater announces return to the Saints

At this point, the Miami Dolphins are going to be running Shane Falco out at quarterback next season.

After making a last-ditch effort to sign Teddy Bridgewater, the New Orleans Saints quarterback announced on Thursday that he’ll be returning to the Bayou for another season backing up Drew Brees.

While this is certainly a win for the Saints, it tells us just how bad things are in South Beach right now. Nick Foles was an option. He no longer is. Instead, he’s playing in Duval with the Jaguars. Tyrod Taylor was an option. He’s now backing up Philip Rivers in Southern California.

Maybe Miami turns back to a quarterback in Ryan Tannehill that it had already pretty much moved on from.

The simple fact that Bridgewater opted to back up Brees next season rather than likely being the starter in Miami tells us a lot about the Dolphins’ organization right now.

Fins down, indeed.

As it relates to the Saints, they retain one of the game’s best backups. New Orleans had acquired him from the New York Jets in a trade prior to the 2018 season. Whether his stay in the Bayou lasts beyond the 2019 season remains to be seen. But Teddy’s back.
