In what was a must-win game if they had any hopes of making the playoffs, the New York Giants came away with a thrilling 24-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers. New York is now just one game out of the chase for the postseason.
The situation looked bleak for New York when Jordan Love connected with Malik Heath on a six-yard touchdown to give Green Bay a 22-21 lead with 1:33 remaining in the game. But Tommy DeVito engineered the first fourth-quarter comeback of his career that culminated with a Randy Bullock 37-yard field goal as time expired.

This was without question New York’s biggest win of the season, and here are three takeaways from the game.
Tommy DeVito keeps getting the job down for New York Giants
The biggest reason for New York’s three-game winning streak has been the play of their undrafted rookie quarterback Danny DeVito who continues to improve each game.
He completed 17 out of 21 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown and also gained 71 yards rushing on 10 carries. His 26-yard run in the third quarter set up a Saquon Barkley one-yard touchdown to give New York on 14-10 lead. Then later in the quarter while rolling to his right, he threw a perfect pass eight-yard touchdown strike to Isaiah Hodgins to put New York up 21-13.
But what was most impressive about DeVito’s performance was the poise and command he showed on the final drive of the game. He completed all four of his passes on the drive for 53 yards to set up the game-winning field goal.
It’s obvious to anyone who has watched the team over the last month, that DeVito has shown over the last that he is a legit quarterback, and his teammates and head coach believe in him.
Wan’Dale Robinson has fully recovered from his ACL injury
A big reason why the New York Giants took Wan’Dale Robinson with the 43rd overall pick in the 2022 draft, is that he is an elusive and shifty runner who can make plays in the open field. But his rookie season came to an end in Week 11 due to a torn ACL.
After missing the first two games of the season, he slowly got acclimated to the offense, and on Monday night he had his best game of the season. He caught six passes for a game-high 79 yards and ran the ball twice for 36 yards. His 32-yard reception on the final drive of the game is what set up the game-winning field goal.
If the team is going to make a push into the playoffs, Robinson is going to play a pivotal role.
The defense continues to force turnovers
After coming under fire earlier in the season, Wink Martindale’s defense has made plays when it mattered most lately, especially when it comes to forcing turnovers. Big Blue’s defense was once again opportunistic on Monday as they forced two turnovers.
The first occurred in the second quarter with the game tied at seven when Kayvon Thibodeaux stripped the ball away from Jordan Love which was recovered by Jason Pinnock at the 27-yard line. Then on the Packers’ next drive, Pinnock intercepted Love and returned the ball 21 yards to the Giants’ 44-yard line to stop another Green Bay scoring threat.
In addition to the turnovers, the defense confused Love all night as he had his worst game in a month as he completed 25 out of 39 passes for 218 yards and sacked him twice.
With their third win over Green Bay, New York showed that their improved play is not a fluke as they just defeated a team that just won three in a row including a win over the reigning Super Bowl Champions the Kansas City Chiefs. New York will look to make it four wins in a row when they travel to New Orleans to take on the (6-7) Saints on Sunday.
