This is a really cool story. About a quarter century ago, Stephen Curry was watching his father, Dell, compete in the three-point contest at the 1991 All-Star Weekend in Orlando. When Dell was on the court competing, the mother of New Jersey Nets guard Drazen Petrovic kept an eye on then two-year-old Stephen Curry.
Dell Curry wouldn’t win the contest, but it’s a moment that his son would never forget.
Now an NBA champion at the age of 27, Steph is paying homage to both the late Drazen Petrovic and his mother.

Petrovic played just three years in the NBA. In June of 1993, he was killed in a car accident on the Autobahn at the age of 28. It was a tragic ending to a life that held so much promise. Petrovic averaged over 22 points per game in his final season with the Nets in 1992-1993.
