There are few things more special at Thanksgiving than spending time with family and watching sports. The Philadelphia 76ers brought those things together on Wednesday night with an emotional homecoming for a soldier.
Staff Sergeant Ivan Thomas, a Philadelphia native, ran out of the tunnel at Wells Fargo Center and surprised his 12-year-old son at mid-court as thousands of fans cheered at the emotional family reunion.
It had been 18 months since Ivan last saw his father and with his favorite holiday arriving, Philadelphia helped make his father’s homecoming even more special.
Now the father and son can enjoy watching one of the NBA’s best teams before going home and spending time eating great food on Thanksgiving.
