Shopify Rebellion came from behind to beat Evil Geniuses 2-1 on Friday in the lower-bracket quarterfinals of the $500,000 Dota Pro Circuit Lima Major.

Earlier on Friday, Evil Geniuses edged Team Aster 2-1, and Talon Esports rallied past Team Spirit 2-1.

The Lima Major is the first major of the Dota Pro Circuit 2023 season and the first DPC major ever held in South America. The 18-team event consists of four teams each from Western Europe and China, three each from Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe and two each from North America and South America.

A pair of nine-team groups held round-robin play last week, with all matches best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advanced to the upper bracket of the playoffs, and the fifth- and sixth-place teams in each group moved on to the lower bracket.

The grand final will take place on Sunday. It will be the only best-of-five match of the tournament. The winner will take home $200,000 and 400 DPC points. Second is worth $100,000 and 350 points.

In the final Friday match, Evil Geniuses opened with a 32-minute win on red, but Shopify Rebellion bounced back for a 40-minute victory on red and a 45-minute triumph on green.

The Philippines’ Abed “Abed” Yusop paced Shopify with an average kill-death-assist ratio of 8.7-2.3-12.7. Peru’s Crhistian “Pakazs” Casanova wound up at 7.0-2.7-8.3 for Evil Geniuses.

In the first match of the day, Evil Geniuses won the first map on red in 43 minutes before Team Aster took the second map on green in 55 minutes. Evil Geniuses sealed the series with a 29-minute triumph on red.

Bolivia’s Adrian “Wisper” Dobles logged a 7.0-2.7-13.0 average K-D-A ratio for Evil Geniuses. Zhai “Xwy” Jingkai finished at 7.7-2.7-5.7 for Aster’s all-Chinese squad.

Team Spirit jumped on top with a 37-minute win on red, only to see Talon Esports prevail in 42 minutes on green and in 55 minutes on red.

Thailand’s Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong recorded an average 7.7-6.0-13.7 K-D-A ratio for Talon Esports. Ukraine’s Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk ended up at 10.0-4.7-11.7 for Team Spirit.
