Former New York Jets’ head coach Rex Ryan didn’t sit in the unemployment line long before the Buffalo Bills offered him a job as their new head coach.
Expressing sadness and emotion, several Jets players showed their support to Ryan upon learning he had been fired. In particular, defensive end Sheldon Richardson stood up for Ryan and was nearly in tears after their after a 38-3 loss against Buffalo in Week 12.
Now that the tears have dried, Richardson’s remorseful tune has changed a bit. When asked about his reaction to Ryan being hired by the Bills, the defensive lineman had this to say (via the New York Post).
That’s hilarious! And to be able to face him two times a year? I can’t wait.
While Richardson softened the comment by saying he was sorry to see Ryan get the ax, the Jets have uplifted spirits upon finding out that Todd Bowles was hired to be the team’s new head coach. Known in his short career to not be shy about voicing his opinion, Richardson and the Jets will have to face Ryan and a tough Bills defense twice per year for the foreseeable future.
