Cleveland Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber has been floated heavily in MLB trade rumors leaguewide, but the team has also experienced a recent surge of success. It’s not hard to see why teams in need of strengthening their rotation would have interest in the former Cy Young winner, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s definitely up for grabs.
Bieber, 28, will be eligible for arbitration again next season for the final time before becoming an unrestricted free agent. Some teams are wondering if the Guardians would be willing to part ways with their two-time All-Star well before free agency hits.
According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, there is a great amount of interest in multiple starting pitchers from the Guardians. Yet, as mentioned, their climb up the standings could prevent a move, barring a massive trade offer.
Bieber may not be having a Cy Young-caliber season, but as you can see, he could still be a frontline starter for several teams, helping boost a starting rotation just in time for a postseason push.

Yet, perhaps that postseason push comes in Cleveland, with the AL Central being the worst division in baseball. As the August 1 MLB trade deadline nears, the Guardians could be a team to keep an eye on. Yet, if they keep winning, we could see Cleveland become buyers as opposed to sellers again.
