When the New England Patriots blew out the Indianapolis Colts back in Week 11, tight end Rob Gronkowski shoved Colts defensive back Sergio Brown en-route to a touchdown. The play received a penalty flag, and Gronk was fined for the play.
When asked after the game what happened during the play, Gronkowski responded that he “threw him out of the club” after Brown was ‘yappin’ during the game (via NFL.com).
Now the two will meet again this Sunday in the critical AFC Championship game. And the Colts defensive back decided it made sense to address the aforementioned play.
I mean, it was a tough play. It was a hard play. I mean, I’m not mad about it. I was more mad about him saying he ‘threw me out of the club’ after the game. We just lost. Aw, you’re pissed off. It’s football. I know Gronk. He knows me, and, I mean, I play tough, too.
When asked if Brown would like the chance to return the favor and toss Gronk out of the club, he said
Of course I would. But you know it’s just football. I’m and aggressive football player and I would like to play well.
Gronk is one of the key play-makers on the Patriots’ offense and shutting him down is something Brown and the Colts will need to do to have any shot at a victory Sunday. If Brown can throw Gronk out of the club along the way, all the sweeter.
