A Seattle television station, KOMO 4, made a big mistake Sunday when it used a Gary Payton photo in place of the legendary Peyton Manning, who officially retired earlier in the day.
The rather blatant faux pas was committed in a segment in which the station was lauding Manning’s touchdown record. Here is the evidence, courtesy of photographer Dave Althouse, who work for KDVR and KWGN in Denver.

It’s a rather curious mistake that indicates the person searching for Manning’s photograph in the first place must have misspelled his first name “Payton,” rather than “Peyton.”
Everyone in the sports entertainment industry can relate to the hustle and bustle that comes with any breaking story, so no small amount of grace should be extended to the person responsible for this mistake.
And, on the plus side, the worst that happened is that we all got a good chuckle out of it.
