The Seattle Seahawks and head coach Pete Carroll are not messing around. Fresh off news that the team has fired offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and are allowing Kris Richard to explore other opportunities, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Seattle has fired offensive line coach Tom Cable.
The #Seahawks have fired OL coach Tom Cable, source said. More change. @bcondotta on it first.

This is significant in that one previous report suggested Cable was in line to replace Bevell as the team’s offensive coordinator.

The Oakland Raiders’ head coach from 2008-2010, Cable has led one of the weakest offensive lines in the NFL over the past seven seasons. He’s seen as a favorite of Pete Carroll, which makes this news even more surprising.
For fans in the Pacific Northwest, this is likely positive news. But it does tell us a story of a Seahawks franchise that’s going to see wholesale changes following a disappointing 9-7 campaign.
