The New York Jets must have liked what they saw out of rookie quarterback Sam Darnold during the first preseason game, because he’s getting a ton of work Sunday in joint practices with the Washington Redskins.
According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Darnold is “getting the vast majority of the reps.”
Sam Darnold getting the vast majority of the reps. Hmm. #Jets

Darnold certainly did impress on Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons. He went for 96 yards on 13-of-18 passing and threw his first NFL touchdown pass, which was a thing of beauty (watch here).
The Jets have said all along that they’re going to give Darnold every chance they can to earn the starting job this summer. That does not appear to have been hot air at this point. And even though Teddy Bridgewater was also very impressive Friday night, in truth he has a better chance starting for another team in 2018 if Darnold continues to shine.
