Jeremy Cox racked up 120 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries to power the Houston Roughnecks to a 25-9 victory over the host Arlington Renegades on Sunday in a preview of the XFL South Division championship game.
Houston (7-3) finished the regular season with three straight wins. The Roughnecks will host Arlington (4-6) on Saturday to decide which team will play in the inaugural championship game of the latest iteration of the XFL.
Quarterback Cole McDonald scored on a 10-yard rush and Cox added a 5-yard score in the first quarter to give Houston a lead it would not relinquish. McDonald finished 10-for-11 passing for 120 yards and an interception and added 66 rushing yards on eight attempts.
Luis Perez went 22-for-36 passing for 205 yards and an interception for the Renegades, who clinched a spot in the division title game by way of San Antonio’s loss Saturday.
