The Oakland Athletics acquired right-hander Chad Smith from the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday in exchange for minor league pitcher Jeff Criswell.
Smith, 27, made his major league debut in May and went 0-1 with a 7.50 ERA in 15 relief appearances for the Rockies this past season.
Criswell, 23, went 4-10 with a 4.03 ERA in 24 games (21 starts) up and down Oakland’s minor league organization in 2022. He began in High-A Lansing before getting promoted to Double-A Midland and Triple-A Las Vegas.
The A’s selected him in the second round of the 2020 draft.
