Robert Griffin III was “All in for Week 1” back in 2013 after suffering a knee injury in the playoffs the previous year, and it proved devastating to his career.
At the time, Adidas was pushing the “All in for Week 1” mantra hard on the national advertising circuit, even though RG3 was still recovering from that knee injury.
Indeed, he did play in Week 1, but that proved the beginning of the end for the 2012 Rookie of the Year in Washington. He struggled through the 2013 season before being shut down the final three games of the year, and he never regained his position as full-time starter with the Redskins.
Now a member of the Baltimore Ravens, Griffin finds himself dealing with yet another injury. This time, it’s a fractured thumb on his throwing hand.
Taking a lighthearted shot at himself following this disappointing news, Griffin tweeted the following on Sunday:
That’s really just a great way to deal with frustration. Many fans who saw RG3’s tweet had positive reactions to his tongue-in-cheek self-own.
