The New England Revolution acquired veteran defender Nick Lima in a trade with Austin FC on Monday.
Austin receives $275,000 in general allocation money for 2024, plus an additional $25,000 if certain performance metrics are met.
Lima, 29, is signed through the 2024 MLS season.
The California native recorded one goal and five assists in 33 matches (25 starts) in 2023, his third season with Austin.
“We’re grateful to Nick for everything he contributed during his time in Austin, and as one of the Club’s original players, he’ll always be an important part of its history,” Austin FC sporting director Rodolfo Borrell said in a statement. “We wish him and his family all the best in New England.”
Lima has eight goals and 20 assists in 195 career MLS matches (165 starts) with the San Jose Earthquakes (2017-20) and Austin.
“Nick Lima has proven to be a dependable defender in Major League Soccer over the last seven years and has been a steady presence on the backline for both of his previous clubs,” Revolution sporting director Curt Onalfo said. “With the ability to play at either outside back position, we foresee Nick making important contributions to our squad and bolstering our defensive unit in a key area for the 2024 season.”
Monday marked the opening of the MLS trade window.
