Draymond Green is expected to make his return to the court on Monday afternoon when the Golden State Warriors visit the Memphis Grizzlies, ESPN and The Athletic reported Sunday.
Green was suspended indefinitely by the NBA after hitting the Phoenix Suns’ Jusuf Nurkic in the face during a Dec. 12 game. It was Green’s second suspension of the season for unsportsmanlike acts, and his fourth suspension of the 2023 calendar year.
Green served the suspension for 12 games before the league reinstated him. He returned to the Warriors’ facility last week and missed four more games while ramping up for a return to game action.
The 33-year-old star forward attended counseling and met with the league and the Warriors for progress reports as conditions of his suspension.
“During the period of his suspension, which began on Dec. 14 and resulted in him missing 12 games, Green completed steps that demonstrated his commitment to conforming his conduct to standards expected of NBA players,” NBA head of basketball operations Joe Dumars said in a statement last week.
Green claimed in an episode of his podcast that he told Adam Silver he wanted to retire before the NBA commissioner talked him out of it.
In just 15 games so far this season (all starts), Green has averaged 9.7 points, 5.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game.
