Atlanta United, who share the league lead for most goals allowed in Major League Soccer, reportedly are making moves to alter their defense.

Atlanta left back Andrew Gutman will be dealt to the Colorado Rapids, according to multiple media reports on Monday. The return from that would include an international slot and allocation money, per The Athletic, and Atlanta United are working to sign midfielder Tristan Muyumba from EA Guingamp in France’s second division.

Gutman would be headed to his fourth MLS team, having played for FC Cincinnati (2019-20), the New York Red Bulls (2021) and Atlanta United (2022-23).

The 26-year-old Illinois native has three goals and five assists in 18 matches, including 16 starts, for Atlanta this season, giving nine goals and 10 assists in 94 career MLS matches, including 77 starts.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gutman is making $381,250 this year, with the team possessing a contract option for next year.

Muyumba, a 26-year-old Paris native, came through Monaco’s youth setup. In three years with Guingamp, he has appeared in 70 matches (47 starts) and netted four goals and three assists.

Despite the shaky defensive record, Atlanta United (8-5-8, 32 points) sit in sixth place in MLS’ Eastern Conference entering a Saturday road match against CF Montreal. Colorado (2-10-8, 14 points) has the lowest point total in all of MLS entering a Tuesday home match against the Portland Timbers.
