The Pittsburgh Pirates traded catcher Austin Hedges to the Texas Rangers on Tuesday in exchange for international signing bonus pool space, several outlets reported.
Hedges, 30, heads to the American League West leaders, who are without All-Star catcher Jonah Heim for at least a few more weeks due to a wrist injury.
In his first season with the Pirates, Hedges was batting .180 with one home run and 14 RBIs over 65 games.
In 670 career games with the San Diego Padres (2015-20), Cleveland Guardians (2020-22) and Pirates, Hedges is a .189 batter with 67 homers and 221 RBIs.
