The Captain himself, James T. Kirk (aka William Shatner) will be the narrator of a new MLB Network documentary entitled “The Colorful Montreal Expos,” set to air on Friday, January 29 at 9 p.m. ET, per The Hollywood Reporter.
One of the most recognizable actors in the world, Shatner, a Montreal native, has been entertaining us since the late 1950s. Though popular even before his name became synonymous with Captain Kirk in 1966, he quickly became a Hollywood superstar afterwards.
As you’d expect with a film featuring quality such as the MLB Network Presents crew provides, there will be many angles covered in the documentary.
Per the report by Lesley Goldberg, Â Shatner “will focus on how the unique culture, history and heritage of the team made it one of baseball’s most distinctive franchises.”
Also along for the ride will be some recognizable names from the team’s golden era.
“Set to participate are former players Warren Cromartie, Andre Dawson, Cliff Floyd and Rondell White. The former Expos will relive various points in the team’s history — starting with original owner Charles Bronfman,” Goldberg writes.
Though often razzed for his unique, pause mid-sentence proze, Shatner is an expert performer who has developed many voices over the years. Nobody should expect anything but pure strings out of the legendary actor in this one.
