The Vancouver Whitecaps are signing forward Brian White to a long-term contract extension, MLSsoccer.com reported Thursday.

The deal includes four guaranteed years and a club option for a fifth year, per the report.

White, who turned 26 on Thursday, tallied 12 goals and five assists in 27 matches (23 starts) with the Whitecaps last season after arriving in a June 2 trade from the New York Red Bulls.

White has 27 goals and nine assists in 74 career games (55 starts) with the Red Bulls (2018-21) and Whitecaps.

Vancouver opens the 2022 MLS season on the road on Feb. 26 against the Columbus Crew.
