Almost immediately, reports surfaced that the Lakers had planned a workout with former Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters.
We can now add J.R. Smith to the mix. According to Shams Charania of The Ahletic, Smith will have a workout with the Lakers at some point early this week.
Smith, 34, has not suited up since early last season as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played just 11 games.
Teammates with LeBron James in Cleveland for parts of four seasons, he was a major cog on the team that earned four consecutive Eastern Conference titles. Smith averaged 10.3 points and shot 38% from three-point rang during that span.
