We would not be surprised if two-time Pro Bowler Melvin Gordon is traded before the start of the regular season here in a couple days.
The Los Angeles Chargers have given Gordon permission to seek a trade as the running back remains a holdout leading up to Week 1. In turn, other reports suggest that he’s not going to be back with the team any time soon.
According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, at least one team has had preliminary talks with the Chargers surrounding the running back.
Anderson did not get into details regarding who the team might be. Gordon did make news over the weekend by following a number of NFL teams on Instagram, the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers included. Whether that’s a harbinger of things to come remains to be seen.
Gordon, 26, is averaging nearly 1,500 total yards and 13 touchdowns over the past three seasons. The former first-round pick is slated to become a free agent in March.
